Working with Drop-Out Molds L084
One versatile tool available to kilnformers is the Drop-Out Mold. Working with drop-out molds is a little different than working with other kinds of slumping molds. For one thing, coldworking will be required if you plan to remove the rim. But the reward of adding this tool to your repertoire is the wide variety of objects they make possible.
In this lesson, you’ll learn about the basic features of drop-out molds and the kinds of pieces you can create with them. You’ll also learn how viscosity and other variables affect glass during the slump.
Finally, we’ll follow a piece from design to completion.
