Petrified Wood and Robin’s Egg Blue Bowl L153

In this project-based lesson, we capitalize on some incredible reactive effects. These arise from combining a streaky sheet glass style called Petrified Wood with Robin’s Egg Blue, a copper-bearing opalescent. When the two touch, they produce sumptuous, one-of-a-kind red hues.

This lesson models the fusing, coldworking, and slumping of a simple bowl. In doing so, it illustrates the sumptuous earth and jewel tones produced when these reactive glasses come together.
