Functional Forms from Frit L151
It’s a bird… it’s a plane… it’s FRIT! In this project-based lesson, we remove frit’s granular disguise and demonstrate how it can make functional pieces fly. Using frit as our only type of glass, we create a sumptuous slumped bowl and lid.
This lesson covers everything you need: materials, how to make and fire the blank, slumping and coldworking procedures, and, of course, secrets for crafting a lipped lid for your bowl. Odds are high that you’ll feel like a creative superhero after you’ve tapped into frit’s functional powers.
