Resurrection: The Transformation from Tradition with Tim Carey and Ted Sawyer L140
In 2014, Judson Studios secured an order from the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas. The job entailed making the world’s largest single stained glass window. It was a tremendous opportunity that posed one big problem: their winning design had been created in Photoshop. As a result, it included numerous passages that they could not readily execute using traditional glass painting methods. Fortuitously, a workshop with Narcissus Quagliata convinced them they could execute the project using their art. They simply needed to employ kiln-glass methods.
Even with this technical insight, a number of hurdles remained. One involved the need to transform their business and building into a kilnforming facility. It had to provide enough space, moreover, for creating a 3,400 square foot masterpiece. But Judson Studios did exactly that—with a little help from some friends.
